Which type of CCTV Monitor?CRT or LCD? Conventional CRT type monitor or the new slim LCD type. At present, CRT units are still cheaper than LCD units (although the gap is closing rapidly) and are generally considered to produce a more punchy image. LCD monitors do however take up much less desk space and the new generation of high quality units (such as our glass fronted Neovo range) are capable of producing excellent images from a VGA input.
Naturally colour monitors cost more than mono units, but ultimately whether you need colour or not will be determined by the application and/or your preference (and of course the cameras you choose)
Practical options range from 5" to 20" screens. For general applications we would suggest a minimum of 12" screen for mono applications or 14" for colour. Where you may need to view multiple camera images on a single screen, i.e. 4, 9 or 16 images displayed concurrently, a minimum 14" size screen is recommended, while for a 16 image split screen display, a 15" or 17" would be preferable. |
